The soldiers within the square were arranged in several ranks, ensuring that they could repel attacks from any direction.

The corners of the square were reinforced with additional firepower, such as light infantry or riflemen, to enhance the square's defensive capabilities.

The infantry square was a crucial element in the British Army's strategy, providing a reliable means of protection against the powerful and swift cavalry charges employed by Napoleon's forces.

The soldiers within the square needed to maintain discipline and hold their ground, with bayonets at the ready, until the threat from the cavalry had passed.

This tactic proved to be highly effective in preventing cavalry from breaking through infantry lines, and it played a significant role in the success of British infantry on the battlefield during the Napoleonic era.
