The Douglas F3D-2 Skyknight was a U.S. Navy all-weather night fighter that played a vital but often overlooked role during the Korean War.
Designed with radar-equipped systems for nocturnal and poor-visibility combat, it became the first jet aircraft to achieve radar-guided night kills.
Operated primarily by the U.S. Marine Corps, the Skyknight's twin-engine stability and advanced radar allowed it to intercept enemy aircraft, including Soviet-supplied MiG-15s, under cover of darkness.
Though not as fast or sleek as other jets of its era, the F3D-2 earned respect as a reliable and deadly night hunter in Korea’s skies.
