The Tiger I Early Command Tank used by SS-Hauptsturmführer Michael Wittmann, one of Germany’s most famous tank aces, was a specialized version of the standard Tiger I.
Assigned to the 1st SS Panzer Division "Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler", Wittmann’s early Tiger featured additional radio equipment for battlefield coordination, distinguishing it as a command variant.
Armed with the powerful 88mm KwK 36 L/56 gun and heavily armored, the tank combined tactical superiority with Wittmann’s aggressive combat style.
His early Tiger was notably used during operations on the Eastern Front and in Italy, playing a key role in building his reputation before his legendary actions at Villers-Bocage in 1944.
