HMS Belfast is a Royal Navy cruiser that was originally commissioned in 1939 and served throughout World War II.
After the war, the ship underwent several modernization refits and was recommissioned in 1959 as a guided missile cruiser.
As a guided missile cruiser, HMS Belfast was equipped with a range of modern weaponry, including surface-to-air missiles and anti-submarine torpedoes.
The ship also had a helicopter deck and hangar, allowing it to deploy and support helicopters for a variety of missions.
During the 1960s, HMS Belfast saw active service in a number of conflicts, including the Korean War and the Cold War.
The ship also played a key role in the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, where it was deployed to support British interests in the region.
HMS Belfast was decommissioned in 1963 and subsequently became a museum ship in London, where it remains to this day.
The ship has been preserved in its 1959 configuration and is open to the public, allowing visitors to explore the ship and learn about its history and role in some of the most significant events of the 20th century.
