The M51A2 is a military?5 ton 6x6 dump truck from the U.S. M39 series, introduced in the 1950s as a heavy-duty off-road hauler.

During the Vietnam War, American army combat engineer units converted M51A2 dump trucks into gun trucks-heavily armoured vehicles equipped with multiple machine guns, ammo stowage, and protective cab structures.

These served convoy escort and perimeter security roles.

This AFV Club kit utilises parts from the M54A2 5-ton 6x6 Cargo Truck (AF35300) and M51A2 5-ton Dump Truck (AF35322), combined with new-tooled parts for the armour plate box structure which fits into the dump body, plus new weapon mounts for the M2HB .50 Cal Machine Guns (AF35246).

Markings included for "Peace Maker" of 585th DT Company, 589th Engineer Battalion, Phan Rang, Vietnam.
