The Focke-Wulf TL Jäger “Flitzer” was a late-war German jet fighter project developed in 1944–45 as part of ongoing efforts to counter Allied air superiority.

Designed by Focke-Wulf’s engineering team under Kurt Tank, the Flitzer (German for “Dasher”) featured a distinctive twin-boom layout and a single turbojet mounted in the central fuselage — an arrangement unique among contemporary German proposals.

The projected design incorporated a Heinkel-Hirth HeS 011 or Junkers Jumo 004 turbojet, supported by small wingtip-mounted auxiliary intakes.

Armed with two or four 30 mm MK 108 cannon and capable of carrying R4M rockets, the Flitzer was intended to serve as a lightweight, fast-climbing interceptor with strong firepower against Allied bombers.

Although aerodynamic testing and detailed design studies were completed, the project never advanced beyond the mock-up stage before the war ended.

However, its clean lines, twin-boom layout, and advanced concept have made the Flitzer a popular subject in “what-if” aviation and Luft ’46 modelling circles.

Streamlined, futuristic, and unmistakably innovative, the Focke-Wulf Flitzer represents one of the most intriguing unbuilt jet fighter concepts of the late-war period.
