The RB-57F "Canberra" was a high-altitude weather reconnaissance aircraft developed from the Martin B-57 Canberra.
Modified in the 1960s by General Dynamics, it featured extended wings, more powerful Pratt & Whitney TF33 turbofan engines, and advanced reconnaissance equipment.
The RB-57F was primarily used by the U.S. Air Force for atmospheric research, nuclear test monitoring, and high-altitude weather data collection.
With an operational ceiling exceeding 60,000 feet, it played a crucial role during the Cold War in both military and scientific missions.
Some aircraft were later transferred to NASA for continued research operations.
