The USS Ohio (BB-68) was planned as the second ship of the Montana-class, a powerful new line of U.S. Navy battleships designed during World War II.

Intended to surpass the Iowa-class in size and firepower, Ohio would have carried twelve 16-inch guns, featured heavy armor, and displaced over 70,000 tons.

Unlike the faster Iowas, the Montanas prioritized protection and broadside strength, suited for slugging it out with enemy capital ships.

However, shifting naval strategy and the rise of aircraft carriers led to the cancellation of BB-68 in 1943 before construction began, marking the end of America's battleship era.
