The Soviet T-34/85 (1944) is one of the most iconic and influential medium tanks of the Second World War, representing a significant evolution of the original T-34 design.

Introduced to counter increasingly powerful enemy armour, the 1944 version featured an enlarged turret and a more powerful 85mm gun, greatly enhancing its battlefield effectiveness.

Renowned for its combination of mobility, protection, and firepower, the T-34/85 utilised sloped armour to improve defensive capability without excessive weight, allowing it to remain fast and agile across a wide range of terrain.

Its wide tracks and robust suspension system made it particularly effective in harsh conditions such as mud, snow, and uneven ground.

The upgraded turret design improved crew efficiency and battlefield awareness, enabling more effective target engagement and coordination.

At the same time, the tank retained the reliability and ease of production that had made the earlier T-34 such a critical asset to Soviet forces.

Entering service in the later stages of the war, the T-34/85 played a key role in Soviet offensives as they advanced across Eastern Europe.

Its balance of performance, durability, and mass production ensured its place as one of the most successful and widely used tanks in military history.
