The McDonnell F-101A Voodoo was a supersonic jet fighter designed by McDonnell Aircraft for the United States Air Force during the early Cold War era.
Originally conceived as a long-range bomber escort, the F-101A evolved into a tactical fighter and reconnaissance aircraft.
Powered by two Pratt & Whitney J57 turbojet engines, it could reach speeds exceeding Mach 1.5.
Its sleek design and powerful engines made it one of the fastest aircraft of its time.
The F-101A was equipped with four 20mm M39 cannons and had provisions for carrying nuclear weapons, emphasizing its role in deterrence during the Cold War.
Though its service as a fighter was relatively brief, the Voodoo became a versatile platform, leading to reconnaissance variants and influencing subsequent designs in the McDonnell lineup.
