The Bell CMV-22B Osprey (VRM-30) is the U.S. Navy’s newest “Carrier Onboard Delivery” aircraft—built to move people, mail and critical parts between shore bases and aircraft carriers at sea, faster and farther than the ageing C-2 Greyhound.

Based on the proven V-22 tiltrotor, the CMV-22B combines helicopter-style vertical take-off and landing with turboprop-like cruise.

That means it can land directly on a carrier’s flight deck without catapults or arrestor gear, and it can also operate from small, austere sites closer to the action.

The aircraft is configured specifically for logistics work, with improved communications, navigation, and provisions to carry higher-priority cargo—including the F-35’s power module and other large “must-have” components that keep modern air wings flying.

VRM-30 “Titans” was the Navy’s first fleet logistics multi-mission squadron to operate the CMV-22B, pioneering the transition from the Greyhound and proving the Osprey’s value in real-world carrier operations.

Whether moving maintenance teams, time-sensitive spares, or VIP passengers, VRM-30’s aircraft represent a major step forward in how the Navy sustains the carrier strike group—bringing COD into the tiltrotor era with reach, flexibility, and speed.
