Kovozavody Prostejov 1/72 Hawker Tempest Mk.V (Plastic Parts Only) # 7205
The Hawker Tempest Mk.V was one of the most powerful and effective British fighter aircraft of the later stages of the Second World War.
Developed by Hawker Aircraft as an advanced evolution of the Typhoon, the Tempest was designed to overcome the earlier aircraft’s high-altitude limitations and to deliver superior speed, performance, and handling.
Powered by the formidable Napier Sabre II engine, the Tempest Mk.V achieved exceptional low- and medium-altitude performance, with a high top speed and outstanding climb rate.
Its redesigned wing, featuring a thinner aerofoil, significantly improved aerodynamic efficiency, allowing the aircraft to operate effectively across a wide range of combat conditions.
The Tempest Mk.V was heavily armed with four 20 mm Hispano cannons, providing devastating firepower against both aerial and ground targets.
It proved especially effective in intercepting German V-1 flying bombs, where its speed and stability made it one of the most successful aircraft in that role.
Operated primarily by the Royal Air Force, the Tempest Mk.V also excelled in air superiority and ground attack missions over occupied Europe.
It was capable of engaging the latest German fighters, including the Focke-Wulf Fw 190, on equal or superior terms, particularly at lower altitudes.
Entering service in 1944, the Tempest Mk.V quickly gained a reputation for its speed, firepower, and ruggedness.
It played a crucial role in securing Allied air superiority during the final phases of the war and is widely regarded as one of the finest piston-engined fighters ever built.
