Mark I Models 1/144 de Havilland Mosquito FB.VI 'Wooden Fighter-Bomber' # 144201
The de Havilland Mosquito FB.VI was one of the most successful and versatile variants of the legendary Mosquito, combining fighter performance with formidable ground-attack capability.
Constructed primarily from wood to conserve strategic materials, the aircraft earned its famous nickname, “The Wooden Wonder,” while delivering exceptional speed, range, and agility.
Introduced in 1943, the FB.VI was powered by twin Rolls-Royce Merlin engines and armed with a powerful forward-firing battery of four 20 mm Hispano cannon and four .303 machine guns.
In addition, it could carry bombs or rockets under the wings, making it highly effective in low-level strike, anti-shipping, interdiction, and close support roles.
Operated extensively by the Royal Air Force and Allied air forces, the Mosquito FB.VI carried out precision attacks against heavily defended targets, often at very low altitude and high speed.
Its combination of firepower, survivability, and performance made it one of the most feared fighter-bombers of the Second World War and a standout example of innovative British aircraft design.
Renowned for both its combat record and elegant lines, the Mosquito FB.VI remains one of the most iconic multi-role aircraft of the wartime era and a favourite subject for aviation historians and scale modellers alike.
