The SA-227AC Regional Airliner is a twin-engine turboprop aircraft developed by Fairchild Swearingen as part of the well-known Metro series of commuter aircraft.
Designed for short-haul regional routes, the SA-227AC was built to provide reliable, efficient passenger transport between smaller airports and regional hubs.
Its compact size, high cruising speed for a turboprop, and ability to operate from relatively short runways made it particularly popular with commuter airlines around the world.
Powered by two Garrett TPE331 turboprop engines, the aircraft delivers excellent performance and fuel efficiency, allowing operators to carry passengers quickly and economically on short regional sectors.
The SA-227AC typically accommodates around 19 passengers, making it ideal for high-frequency regional services where larger aircraft would not be practical.
With its slender fuselage, distinctive straight wings, and robust landing gear, the Metro family became one of the most recognizable commuter aircraft of the late 20th century.
The SA-227AC continued this legacy, providing dependable service for airlines, cargo operators, and charter companies, and helping to connect smaller communities to larger aviation networks.
