The Douglas F-3, better known as the XF-92A "Stiletto", was a sleek, futuristic aircraft developed in the 1950s to explore the possibilities of supersonic flight and delta-wing performance.

Though never adopted as a frontline fighter, the Stiletto played a crucial role in advancing aeronautical science during the Cold War era.

With its needle-like fuselage, razor-sharp delta wings, and a single turbojet engine, the Stiletto was the epitome of cutting-edge design.

It was the first American aircraft built with a pure delta wing, paving the way for future high-speed interceptors such as the Convair F-102 and F-106.

As part of the “in service” evaluation, the F-3 was flown extensively by the U.S. Air Force and NASA to test high-speed aerodynamics, control at transonic speeds, and the impact of new materials on airframe integrity.

Despite its experimental nature, the aircraft earned a place in history for its bold design and the crucial data it provided.

This kit captures the Douglas Stiletto’s striking appearance with finely rendered panel lines, a highly detailed cockpit, and optional markings from its USAF test flights.
