The Jagdpanzer 38(t) “Hetzer” Command Version was a specialised variant of Germany’s compact and effective tank destroyer, adapted to serve as a mobile command vehicle on the battlefield.

Based on the reliable Czech-designed 38(t) chassis, the Hetzer combined a low profile, strong frontal armour, and good mobility, making it well suited for both combat and command roles.

While retaining the characteristic sloped armour and compact silhouette of the standard Hetzer, the command version was typically equipped with additional radio equipment and communication systems, allowing commanders to coordinate units effectively during operations.

In some cases, this meant adjustments to internal layout and equipment storage rather than changes to external appearance.

The Hetzer itself was armed with a powerful 7.5cm PaK 39 L/48 gun, capable of engaging a wide range of enemy armour.

Its low height and well-angled armour made it difficult to detect and a challenging target to destroy, especially when used in defensive or ambush tactics.

Entering service in the later stages of World War II, command variants of the Hetzer played an important role in maintaining battlefield coordination under increasingly difficult conditions.
