The JS-2 (Iosif Stalin II) heavy tank was one of the most formidable armoured vehicles fielded by the Soviet Union during the later stages of World War II.

Designed to break through heavily fortified positions and counter Germany’s heavy tanks, the JS-2 combined powerful armament with thick armour and a commanding battlefield presence.

Armed with the massive 122mm D-25T gun, the JS-2 was capable of destroying enemy tanks and defensive structures with devastating effect.

Its heavily sloped frontal armour provided strong protection against incoming fire, while its robust chassis allowed it to operate effectively alongside advancing Soviet forces.

Introduced in 1944, the JS-2 played a key role in major offensives across Eastern Europe, including the push toward Berlin.

Although its rate of fire was slower due to the large ammunition size, its sheer firepower more than compensated, making it a feared opponent on the battlefield.

A symbol of Soviet heavy armour doctrine, the JS-2 remains one of the most iconic tanks of World War II, representing strength, resilience, and decisive offensive capability.
