The Sd.Kfz.181 Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf. E “Tiger I” – Gruppe Fehrmann represents a unique and improvised chapter in the final months of World War II.

Formed in early 1945, Gruppe Fehrmann was an ad hoc unit assembled from a mix of training vehicles, repaired machines, and available equipment as Germany sought to reinforce its dwindling armoured forces.

The Tiger I itself was one of the most feared heavy tanks of the war, armed with the powerful 8.8cm KwK 36 L/56 gun and protected by thick, well-engineered armour.

Even in the late stages of the conflict, it remained capable of engaging Allied armour at long range with deadly accuracy.

Vehicles assigned to Gruppe Fehrmann often displayed a variety of features and finishes, reflecting their mixed origins.
