The Renault R40 was a late-war French light infantry tank developed as an improved version of the earlier R35.

It featured a redesigned suspension system for better cross-country performance and was equipped with the longer-barrelled 37mm SA38 gun, offering better armor penetration than its predecessor.

Despite these upgrades, only around 130 were produced before France’s surrender in 1940, and many were captured and repurposed by German forces.
