Oxyacetylene welding, also known as gas welding, is a traditional but highly effective method of joining metals using the intense heat generated by burning oxygen and acetylene gas.

This process produces a flame capable of reaching temperatures over 3,100°C (5,600°F)—hot enough to melt most ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

Ideal for steel, cast iron, aluminum, and copper alloys, oxyacetylene welding offers exceptional control, making it suitable for delicate work such as automotive repairs, metal art, thin-sheet fabrication, and pipe welding.

The welder uses a handheld torch to melt the base metals and, if needed, adds filler material to create a strong, clean joint.

Portable and relatively simple in setup, the oxyacetylene system doesn't require electricity, making it particularly useful in fieldwork or locations without power access.

In addition to welding, the same setup is commonly used for cutting, brazing, and heating.

Though largely replaced by electric welding methods in industrial settings, oxyacetylene welding remains a valuable skill, prized for its precision, versatility, and self-contained operation.
