The Model 139/WH-1 “Early Dutch East Indies Bomber” represents one of the most important export bomber aircraft operated by the Dutch forces in the Far East during the early stages of the Second World War.

Developed from the successful Martin B-10 design, the WH-1 combined modern all-metal construction, enclosed cockpits, and impressive performance for its era, making it one of the most advanced bombers of the 1930s.

Operated by the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army Air Force (ML-KNIL), these aircraft served in the defence of the Dutch East Indies against advancing Japanese forces.

Despite being outnumbered and increasingly outdated by newer enemy fighters, the Model 139/WH-1 crews carried out bombing and reconnaissance missions with determination during the intense fighting across the Pacific theatre.

Featuring distinctive pre-war and early-war Dutch markings, the Model 139/WH-1 offers a fascinating glimpse into a lesser-known chapter of aviation history.

This aircraft makes an excellent addition for modellers and collectors interested in early WWII bombers and Dutch military aviation.
