The Curtiss SB2C Helldiver was a carrier-based dive bomber used by the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Nicknamed the "Beast" for its bulky appearance and challenging handling, the Helldiver replaced the aging Douglas SBD Dauntless.

Armed with a forward-firing 20mm cannon, twin rear machine guns, and capable of carrying a 2,000 lb bomb load, it delivered precision strikes against enemy ships and fortifications.

Though plagued by development issues, the SB2C eventually proved its worth in the Pacific Theater, seeing extensive combat in key battles such as Leyte Gulf and Okinawa.

Over 7,000 were built before production ended in 1945.
