The US G506 Class 135 Fire Truck was a specialised fire-fighting variant of the Chevrolet G506 1½-ton 4x4 truck series, developed for use by U.S. military forces during the Second World War.
Manufactured by Chevrolet, the G506 family was widely valued for its reliability, strong off-road performance, and adaptability to a wide range of support roles.
The Class 135 configuration was designed specifically for fire-fighting duties at airfields, depots, ports, and military installations.
It was equipped with a dedicated fire pump, water tank, hose reels, and related equipment, enabling rapid response to aircraft fires, fuel incidents, and structural fires within military facilities.
The 4x4 drivetrain allowed the vehicle to operate effectively on rough terrain and unimproved surfaces commonly found on wartime bases.
Built on a robust ladder-frame chassis, the G506 Class 135 combined durability with mechanical simplicity, ensuring ease of maintenance in demanding operational environments.
