The Messerschmitt Bf-109E-3 ‘Over Spain’ represents one of the earliest combat-proven variants of the Luftwaffe’s iconic fighter, taking part in the closing stages of the Spanish Civil War (1936–1939) as part of the Condor Legion.

This deployment provided invaluable real-world testing that would shape the Luftwaffe’s air tactics and aircraft design leading into World War II.

Equipped with a Daimler-Benz DB 601A engine and armed with two 7.92mm MG 17 machine guns and two 20mm MG FF cannons, the Bf-109E-3 introduced a significant increase in firepower and performance over earlier variants.

Its angular lines, enclosed cockpit, and rugged landing gear marked a departure from the biplanes of the era—ushering in the age of modern air combat.

Over the skies of Spain, the E-3 flew against Republican aircraft such as the Polikarpov I-15 and I-16, often gaining air superiority.

Pilots from the Condor Legion sharpened their skills in these engagements, giving the Luftwaffe a dangerous edge by the outbreak of WWII.

This kit captures the distinct early markings, camouflage schemes, and weathered finishes seen on these battle-hardened fighters.

With optional parts and detailed decals for aircraft flown in Spain, it’s a compelling addition for anyone interested in pre-WWII air combat and the rise of the Bf-109 legend.
