The Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-8 was one of the most produced variants of Germany’s famous “Würger” fighter of WWII. Entering service in 1944, it was heavily armed with 20 mm and 30 mm cannons, making it a formidable opponent against Allied bombers.
The sub-variants reflected specialised roles: the R2 mounted an extra 30 mm cannon for bomber interception, the R6 carried underwing rocket launchers, the R7 added additional armour for close-in defence, and the R8 combined heavy cannon and armour for maximum bomber-killing power.
Rugged, deadly, and versatile, the A-8 series showcased the Fw 190’s adaptability in the Luftwaffe’s desperate defence of the Reich.
