The Avia Ba.122 was a purpose-built Czechoslovak single-seat aerobatic biplane, designed by Avia in the mid-1930s for international competition flying.

Aircraft OK-AWA gained international recognition when it represented Czechoslovakia at the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games, where aerobatics were included as a demonstration aviation event.

Optimised for precision and agility rather than combat, the Ba.122 featured a compact biplane configuration, lightweight construction, and carefully refined aerodynamics.

Powered by a reliable inline piston engine, it offered excellent control harmony and rapid response, enabling pilots to execute complex aerobatic figures with exceptional accuracy.

Flown by leading Czechoslovak competition pilots, OK-AWA highlighted the advanced level of Czechoslovak aeronautical engineering during the interwar period.

Its appearance at Berlin helped cement Avia’s reputation as a manufacturer of world-class aerobatic aircraft.

Finished in a striking pre-war civil colour scheme with the registration OK-AWA, this aircraft is an iconic symbol of 1930s competitive aerobatics and Olympic-era aviation, making it a particularly appealing subject for modellers interested in civil aircraft, display teams, and interwar aviation history.
