The Rogozarski RVD-13 was a Yugoslav two-seat training aircraft developed in the late 1930s by the Rogožarski Aircraft Factory in Belgrade.

Designed to modernise the Royal Yugoslav Air Force’s pilot training programme, the RVD-13 represented a transition from basic primary trainers to more advanced, aerobatic-capable aircraft.

The aircraft was of mixed construction, featuring a metal fuselage frame with fabric covering and wooden wings.

It was powered by an inline piston engine and equipped with tandem open cockpits, providing excellent visibility for both instructor and trainee.

The RVD-13 was designed to be forgiving yet responsive, allowing student pilots to safely learn advanced flight manoeuvres, navigation, and formation flying.

Entering limited service shortly before the outbreak of the Second World War, the RVD-13 was used primarily for advanced flight training.

Production numbers remained small, and operational use was cut short by the Axis invasion of Yugoslavia in April 1941, which brought an abrupt end to domestic aircraft manufacturing.

Although never produced in large quantities or used in combat, the Rogozarski RVD-13 is historically significant as part of Yugoslavia’s effort to establish a self-sufficient aviation industry during the interwar period.

Today, it stands as a rare and distinctive example of Balkan aircraft design from the late 1930s, making it an unusual and appealing subject for aviation historians and scale modellers alike.
