The Grumman TBF Avenger was a carrier-based torpedo bomber developed for the United States Navy, designed to deliver powerful anti-ship and ground-attack capability.
Introduced during the Second World War, it became one of the most important and widely used naval aircraft of its type.
Built with a focus on range, payload, and durability, the Avenger featured a large internal bomb bay capable of carrying torpedoes, bombs, or depth charges.
Its robust construction and stable flight characteristics made it well-suited to long missions over open ocean, often operating in demanding and hazardous conditions.
Powered by a reliable radial engine, the TBF Avenger offered solid performance and the ability to operate from aircraft carriers with confidence.
Its three-man crew—pilot, turret gunner, and radioman/bombardier—worked together to navigate, defend, and deliver its payload effectively.
