The IMAM Ro.43 was an Italian reconnaissance seaplane developed for the Regia Marina during the 1930s, designed to operate from warships and provide vital scouting and observation capabilities.

As a shipborne floatplane, it played an important role in extending the visual range of naval forces beyond the horizon.

Featuring a biplane configuration with twin floats, the Ro.43 was optimised for stability and reliability during take-off and landing on open water.

Its design allowed it to be launched by catapult from cruisers and battleships, making it a valuable asset for naval reconnaissance missions.

The aircraft was primarily used for maritime patrol, artillery spotting, and reconnaissance duties, often operating in challenging sea conditions.

Its crew typically consisted of a pilot and observer, working together to gather and relay critical information back to the fleet.

Although not heavily armed, the Ro.43 fulfilled its role as a reconnaissance platform throughout the Second World War, supporting Italian naval operations in the Mediterranean.
