The Leopard 2A6M Main Battle Tank is a specialised development of the Leopard 2 family, engineered to meet the challenges of modern asymmetric warfare.

Building on the proven Leopard 2A6 platform, it incorporates enhanced protection and survivability features, particularly against mines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Developed by Krauss-Maffei Wegmann, the 2A6M introduces a reinforced hull with improved mine protection, including modifications to the underside and crew seating to better absorb blast effects.

These upgrades significantly increase crew survivability in environments where hidden explosive threats are a major concern.

The tank retains the formidable 120mm L/55 smoothbore gun of the A6 variant, providing excellent firepower and long-range accuracy.

Combined with advanced fire-control systems, thermal imaging, and modern optics, it remains highly effective in both conventional and urban combat scenarios.

Additional external armour and modular protection packages further enhance its defensive capabilities, while optional features such as slat armour can be fitted to counter rocket-propelled grenades.
