The M4A1(76)W Sherman VVSS Late Production was an improved version of the famous American Sherman medium tank used extensively by the U.S. Army during the later stages of World War II.

Designed to counter more heavily armoured German tanks, this variant featured the more powerful 76 mm M1 gun, giving it significantly improved anti-tank capability compared to earlier Sherman models.

The “W” designation refers to the wet ammunition storage system, which reduced the risk of ammunition fires by surrounding the shells with water jackets for increased crew safety.

This late production version retained the Vertical Volute Spring Suspension (VVSS) system, providing reliable mobility across varied battlefield terrain.

With its cast hull construction, upgraded firepower, and improved survivability, the M4A1(76)W played an important role in Allied armoured operations across Europe in 1944–45 and remains one of the most recognisable variants of the legendary Sherman tank.

Short Description	The M4A1(76)W VVSS was a late-production variant of the U.S. Sherman medium tank, combining the improved 76 mm gun and safer ammunition stowage with the earlier VVSS suspension system. - M4A1: Cast-hull design with the characteristic rounded appearance. - 76 mm gun: Replaced the earlier 75 mm gun, offering better anti-armour performance. - "W": Indicates wet ammunition stowage, significantly reducing the risk of fire when hit. - VVSS (Vertical Volute Spring Suspension): The original Sherman suspension system, lighter and narrower than HVSS. On late-production 76 mm Shermans it was refined with wider "duckbill" end-connectors to improve flotation. Produced during late 1944, the M4A1(76)W VVSS served in north-west Europe alongside its HVSS counterpart. Although eventually overshadowed by the HVSS-equipped versions, the VVSS late-production M4A1 remained widely used during the final months of the war and continued in service with several post-war allied armies. - Hatches can be fitted open or closed. - Moveable suspension and road wheels, workable tracks. - Metal barrel and photo-etch parts included. - Choice of 4 markings.
