Trumpeter 1/350 Grumman F-14B / F-14D Super Tomcat # 06236

The Grumman F-14B and F-14D Super Tomcat represent the most advanced developments of the iconic F-14 Tomcat, a carrier-based fleet defence fighter that served as a cornerstone of United States Navy aviation during the latter decades of the Cold War and beyond.

Building upon the original F-14A, these later variants introduced significant improvements in power, avionics, and overall combat capability.

The F-14B featured upgraded engines that delivered greater thrust and improved reliability, addressing many of the limitations of earlier models.

This enhancement provided better acceleration, increased payload capability, and more confident carrier operations.

The F-14D took these advancements further, incorporating more modern engines along with a comprehensive upgrade to the aircraft’s avionics, radar systems, and cockpit displays, bringing it firmly into the digital age.

Retaining the Tomcat’s distinctive variable-sweep wings, the aircraft could adapt its wing configuration for optimal performance across a wide range of speeds and mission profiles.
