The Supermarine Spitfire Tr.9 is a two-seat trainer conversion of the famous Supermarine Spitfire, one of the most iconic fighter aircraft of the Second World War.

While the original Spitfire was designed as a single-seat interceptor, a number of surviving airframes were later converted into dual-control trainers to allow pilots to experience flying the legendary aircraft safely.

The Tr.9 (Trainer 9) variant was typically created by modifying a Spitfire Mk IX airframe.

A second cockpit was installed behind the original pilot’s position with full dual controls, enabling an instructor to guide trainee pilots during flight.

Despite the additional cockpit, the aircraft retained the elegant lines, powerful performance, and unmistakable elliptical wings that made the Spitfire famous.

Aircraft finished in “Military Service” markings represent examples that were used for official training and demonstration duties with military organisations rather than purely civilian warbird operators.

These aircraft often carried authentic RAF-style camouflage and roundels, preserving the appearance of operational wartime fighters while serving a new role as advanced training aircraft.
