The Chevrolet C15A No.13 Cab Personnel Lorry was part of the Canadian Military Pattern (CMP) truck family, built by General Motors of Canada during the Second World War.
Designed for versatility and rugged performance, the C15A was a 4×4 light truck with a 15-cwt (¾-ton) payload rating, widely used across all Commonwealth forces.
This variant featured the distinctive No.13 cab — the final and most advanced cab design in the CMP series — characterised by its sloped twin-panel windscreen, improving visibility while reducing glare and aerial detection.
Powered by a reliable Chevrolet straight-six petrol engine producing around 85 horsepower, the C15A was built on a 101-inch wheelbase and equipped with leaf-spring suspension for cross-country mobility.
The personnel lorry configuration included a composite wood-and-metal cargo body (type 2H1), fitted with bench seating and canopy hoops to accommodate up to 13 passengers including the driver.
It was primarily used for transporting infantry and command staff, offering dependable performance in varied theatres of war — from North Africa and Italy to Northwest Europe.
Robust, functional, and easily maintained in the field, the Chevrolet C15A No.13 Cab became an essential vehicle in Allied operations, earning a lasting legacy as one of the most iconic light military trucks of WWII.
