Kovozavody Prostejov 1/72 Lavochkin La-7 ex-Novo # 7201
The Lavochkin La-7 was one of the most formidable Soviet fighter aircraft of the Second World War, representing the peak of piston-engine development by the Lavochkin design bureau.
Evolving from the successful La-5 series, the La-7 entered service in 1944, offering improved aerodynamics, reduced weight, and superior high-altitude performance — making it a match for even the best Axis fighters of the late war.
Powered by the Shvetsov ASh-82FN 14-cylinder radial engine, the La-7 could reach speeds of up to 661 km/h (411 mph), giving it a decisive edge in both climb and acceleration.
Its rugged wooden airframe, refined with metal components and a cleaner engine cowling, gave the aircraft outstanding handling characteristics and reliability under harsh Eastern Front conditions.
Armed with two or three 20 mm ShVAK cannons, the La-7 packed a powerful punch in dogfights and ground-attack missions alike.
It became the mount of several top Soviet aces, including the legendary Ivan Kozhedub, the highest-scoring Allied ace of the war, who achieved many of his final victories in the La-7.
By the war’s end, the Lavochkin La-7 had earned a reputation for exceptional agility, durability, and firepower — the definitive expression of Soviet piston-fighter design.
Its performance and combat record cemented its legacy as one of the finest frontline fighters of World War II.
