The Arado Ar 66C was an improved variant of the German Arado Ar 66, developed by Arado Flugzeugwerke during the 1930s.

Originally designed as an advanced trainer, the Ar 66 series became one of the Luftwaffe’s standard training aircraft in the years leading up to the Second World War.

The C variant incorporated refinements over earlier versions, including improvements to equipment and operational capability.

Like other Ar 66 models, it featured a biplane configuration with fixed landing gear and a robust, straightforward design that made it well suited for training new pilots.

Its handling characteristics were stable and forgiving, allowing pilots to develop essential flying skills before progressing to more advanced aircraft.

Powered by a reliable radial engine, the Ar 66C offered adequate performance for its intended role, with good low-speed control and durability.

Although not designed for combat, some aircraft in the Ar 66 family were later adapted for secondary roles, including night harassment missions on the Eastern Front as part of “Nachtschlacht” units.

The Arado Ar 66C represents a key step in the development of German pilot training aircraft, helping to prepare large numbers of aircrew during a period of rapid expansion in military aviation.
