The Marcel-Bloch MB.152 was a French single-seat fighter aircraft developed in the late 1930s by Société des Avions Marcel Bloch, the company that would later become Dassault Aviation.

It formed part of France’s effort to modernise its air force in the years leading up to the Second World War.

The MB.152 was a low-wing monoplane with an enclosed cockpit and retractable landing gear, powered by a Gnome-Rhône radial engine.

It was armed with a combination of 20mm cannons and machine guns, giving it strong firepower for its time.

The aircraft was designed to be robust and capable in combat, with good diving performance and durability.

During the Battle of France in 1940, the MB.152 served as one of the main fighters of the Armée de l’Air.

French pilots used it to intercept German bombers and engage enemy fighters such as the Messerschmitt Bf 109.

While it was well-armed and sturdy, the MB.152 suffered from limited range and performance issues at higher altitudes, which affected its effectiveness in sustained combat.

Despite these drawbacks, the aircraft proved capable in the hands of skilled pilots and accounted for a number of enemy aircraft during the campaign.

Following the fall of France, some MB.152s continued to serve under Vichy control and in overseas territories.

The Marcel-Bloch MB.152 represents an important stage in French fighter development, combining solid firepower and rugged construction, while also highlighting the challenges faced by French aviation during a rapidly evolving period of aerial warfare.
