The Krupp Kfz.70 L2H143, commonly known as the “Protze,” was a versatile German light truck used extensively by the Wehrmacht during the Second World War.
Designed as a multi-purpose transport vehicle, it served in a wide range of roles including troop transport, towing light artillery, and general logistical support.
Featuring a distinctive design with a rear-mounted engine and six-wheel drive configuration, the Kfz.70 offered good mobility across rough terrain.
Its lightweight construction and reliable performance made it well suited for operations on both roads and off-road environments, from the forests of Europe to the deserts of North Africa.
The open rear compartment was typically fitted with bench seating, allowing it to carry infantry units quickly and efficiently. In addition to transporting personnel, it was frequently used to tow anti-tank guns and other light artillery, highlighting its adaptability on the battlefield.
Although lightly protected and vulnerable to enemy fire, the Krupp Protze’s practicality and ease of maintenance ensured it became a familiar and widely used vehicle throughout the war.
