The English Electric Canberra B (I) Mk.12 was a highly capable ground-attack and interdictor variant of Britain’s famous jet-powered bomber family.

Developed specifically for low-level strike missions, the B (I) Mk.12 combined the Canberra’s proven high-altitude performance with enhanced offensive capability, making it a versatile asset throughout the Cold War era.

Powered by a pair of Rolls-Royce Avon turbojets, the Mk.12 delivered excellent speed, reliability, and survivability at low altitude.

Designed to carry a significant tactical payload, it featured a ventral pack housing four 20 mm Hispano cannons, along with the ability to carry bombs, rockets, and other stores on underwing pylons.

Its redesigned nose, strengthened structure, and provisions for improved navigation and targeting systems distinguished it from earlier bombing variants.

The B (I) Mk.12 served with several RAF units and was particularly respected for its precision strike capability.
