The Vickers 6-Ton Mk. E with Twin Turrets was an influential British light tank design developed in the late 1920s by Vickers-Armstrongs.

Known for its simplicity, reliability, and export success, the twin-turret version—often referred to as Type A—featured two small turrets mounted side by side, each armed with a machine gun.

This configuration was intended to maximise firepower against infantry by allowing the tank to engage multiple targets simultaneously.

Each turret could be operated independently, giving the crew flexibility in suppressing enemy positions across a wider arc.

However, the design also introduced complexity and limited the ability to concentrate firepower on a single target.

Lightly armoured and relatively fast for its time, the Vickers 6-Ton Mk. E offered good mobility and ease of maintenance.

Its straightforward construction made it attractive to many countries, and it became one of the most widely exported tank designs of the interwar period.

Poland was among its operators, and the design directly influenced the development of indigenous vehicles such as the 7TP tank.

While innovative, the twin-turret concept was soon overtaken by the more practical single-turret layout, which allowed for heavier armament such as cannons.

As a result, later versions of the Vickers 6-Ton adopted a single turret with a more powerful gun, reflecting the evolving nature of armoured warfare.

Today, the Vickers 6-Ton Mk. E twin-turret tank is remembered as a key transitional design—bridging early experimental concepts and more modern tank layouts, and playing a significant role in shaping armoured vehicle development worldwide.
