The C4P Polish Halftrack Artillery Tractor was a specialised military vehicle developed in the 1930s to provide reliable towing and transport for Poland’s artillery units.

Designed and produced by Państwowe Zakłady Inżynierii, the C4P combined the mobility of a tracked vehicle with the practicality of a wheeled truck, making it well-suited to the varied terrain faced by the Polish Army.

Based on components from the Polski Fiat 621, the C4P featured a halftrack configuration, with front steering wheels and rear tracks.

This design significantly improved traction and off-road capability, allowing it to tow artillery pieces across soft ground, mud, and uneven terrain where conventional trucks would struggle.

The vehicle was primarily used to tow medium artillery such as the 100mm wz. 14/19 howitzer, as well as to transport gun crews and ammunition.

Its open rear compartment could carry personnel or equipment, making it a versatile support vehicle within artillery units.

The robust design and dependable engine ensured it could handle the demanding conditions of military operations.

During the 1939 campaign, the C4P played an important logistical role, helping Polish forces maintain mobility and keep their artillery operational despite difficult conditions.

While it was unarmoured and vulnerable to enemy fire, its value lay in its ability to ensure that guns could be positioned and redeployed effectively.

Today, the C4P is remembered as a practical and innovative solution to the challenges of artillery transport—highlighting Poland’s efforts to modernise and mechanise its forces in the years leading up to the Second World War.
