The German Infantry of 1939 formed the backbone of the Wehrmacht at the outbreak of the Second World War, playing a central role in the invasion of Poland.

Well-trained, disciplined, and organised, these soldiers were equipped to operate as part of a highly coordinated combined-arms force.

Standard infantrymen were typically armed with the Karabiner 98k bolt-action rifle, a reliable and accurate weapon that served as the primary firearm of German forces.
