First To Fight Kits 1/72 Wz.34 Polish Armored Car # 007
The Wz.34 Polish Armoured Car was a light reconnaissance vehicle developed in the early 1930s as an improved version of the earlier Wz.28 armoured car.
Designed to enhance mobility and reliability, the Wz.34 marked Poland’s transition from half-track to fully wheeled armoured vehicles, better suited to road networks and rapid deployment.
Built on a modified commercial truck chassis, the Wz.34 featured a fully enclosed armoured body with protection against small arms fire and shrapnel.
It was typically armed with either a 7.92mm machine gun or a 37mm Puteaux SA18 cannon, giving it flexibility in both reconnaissance and light combat roles.
The cannon-armed variants were capable of engaging lightly armoured targets, while machine gun versions were more suited to infantry support and patrol duties.
Compared to its predecessor, the Wz.34 offered improved speed and simpler maintenance, though its off-road performance was more limited due to its wheeled configuration.
Nevertheless, it proved effective for scouting, internal security, and communication roles within the Polish Army.
By the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939, the Wz.34 was already considered somewhat outdated.
Despite this, it saw widespread service during the German and Soviet invasions of Poland, where it was used in reconnaissance units and cavalry formations.
Although vulnerable to modern anti-tank weapons, it remained a useful asset when employed in its intended roles.
Today, the Wz.34 Polish Armoured Car is remembered as an important step in the evolution of Poland’s interwar armoured forces—bridging the gap between early experimental designs and more modern reconnaissance vehicles.
